The Marina Industries Association (MIA) has unveiled the comprehensive program for Marinas26, its biennial conference and trade exhibition, scheduled for 24-27 May 2026 at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Embracing the 'Future Smart' theme, the event aims to delve into emerging trends and technologies poised to reshape the marina and boatyard sector across the Asia-Pacific region.

A focal point of the conference is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into marina operations. Renowned futurist and business strategist Gihan Perera is set to deliver the keynote address titled 'AI Future in Marinas & Boatyards.' Perera will explore how AI is revolutionising various facets of the industry, including operations, customer experience, asset management, and workforce capabilities. His insights are expected to challenge attendees to envision AI as a catalyst for strategic transformation rather than mere automation.

Building on this theme, Perera will moderate a panel discussion on 'AI - Practical Applications for Marinas,' featuring industry leaders who have successfully implemented AI-driven solutions. This session aims to provide delegates with actionable strategies to integrate AI into their daily operations, moving beyond theoretical concepts to practical applications.

The conference will also address the burgeoning superyacht market in the 'Superyacht Ready' session, led by David Good, CEO of Superyacht Australia. Good will discuss emerging opportunities within this high-value sector and outline steps marinas can take to attract and service superyacht clientele effectively.

Risk management is another critical topic on the agenda. The 'Risk on the Waterfront' session, presented by MIA’s insurance partner Nautilus Marine Insurance and legal partner McInnes Wilson Lawyers, will examine the complex risk landscape facing marinas today. Topics will include regulatory compliance, environmental obligations, insurance market trends, and emerging legal exposures.

Innovation and operational excellence will be showcased in the 'Innovators & Start-Up Showcase,' where five companies will present their products or services designed to enhance facility operations and management. Delegates will have the opportunity to vote for the solution with the greatest commercial potential, with the winner announced at the Gala Dinner.

The conference will conclude with a headline address from Mark Richards, a distinguished maritime leader, boatbuilder, and ocean racing legend. In his session 'Line Honours,' Richards will share insights on leadership, innovation, and success, drawing from his extensive experience in marine design, competitive sailing, and marina ownership.

Marinas26 is set to bring together marina owners, operators, designers, government representatives, and suppliers from across Australia and beyond, reinforcing its position as the premier conference for the marina and boatyard industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
